The Romanian Olympic Academy was established on 21st march 1991,based on the decision of the General Gathering of the Romanian Olympic Committee .
           The Romanian Olympic Academy has social,educational-cultural-sport,humanitarian,non-profit,apolitic and non-confessional character. It reunites - through voluntary adhesion - teachers,sport personalities,specialists in the field of professional sport and people from other domains,who participate in the science of sport.
           Between it' s founders we find the president of the Romanian Olympic Committee from that time,Lia Manoliu,supported in this endeavor by mister Juan Antonio Samaranch,ex president of the International Olympic Committee.
          Known personalities fromn the world of sport were supporters of this project,personalities like:Mihaela Penes,Emil Ghibu,Ion Matei,Teodor Roibu,Arthur Hoffmann and Octavian Vintila.
